Levi Green was born in May 1783 in Hardwick, Sussex, New Jersey, United States. He was the son of Ensign Adam Green UEL and Martha (Smith) Green. (Source: Upper Canada Land Petitions “C” Bundle 20, 1836-1837, RG1, L3, Vol 213, Petition #87) Adam Green UEL, who was a recruiter for the New Jersey Volunteers, acting under Colonel (Judge) Nathaniel Pettit during the Revolutionary War, had Lot 24 Conc. 4, Saltfleet Township, and petitioned for additional land in 1794, after which he received an additional 300 acres (Lot 24, 25 and 26, Conc 5) adjoining. The Van Every’s were early pioneers in the Mohawk Valley of Upper New York. During the American Revolution, the Van Every’s remained true to the British Crown and fought alongside the British Army. Suffering persecution from their neighbours following the end of the war, they sought land grants in Upper Canada and Andrew Van Every, who was the second eldest son of MacGregory Van Every, was granted 200 acres consisting of Lots 12-13, Concession 1, West Flamboro.

James Vrooman was the son of Adam, a Captain in Butler’s Rangers who was granted crown land in Queenston. He was the second youngest of seven children and youngest of five sons. His eldest brother was Solomon Secord Vrooman who was in the Lincoln Militia & who inherited his father’s land. He was born on 22 Apr 1794.

George Fowler

George Fowler was probably born in England in about 1766. In 1798, he was a lieutenant in the York Regiment of Fencible Infantry in Ireland. On 7 August 1806, Lieutenant Fowler was transferred to the 41st Regiment of Foot, which was in Canada.

The Sage family was part of an early group of settlers in Oxford. Comfort was born in New York State, June 9, 1797 and when they immigrated to Upper Canada he spent his younger years along the banks of the Grand River in Brant County later moving to Oxford.

A son of Peter Fraser Sr. b 1789 in Fort Augustus, Invernesshire, Scotland. At age 18, he is a drummer in the 10th Royal Veteran Battalion, arriving in Quebec in 1807. Transferred to 49th Regiment of Foot in 1810 as Private. By 1813, he is a Sergeant, serving in the 49th Regiment of Foot, under General Vincent in the Niagara Frontier.
