Colonel Titus Williams, born Long Island, 22 November, 1790, son of Captain Jonathan Williams, of the British Army. Received Ensign’s Commission in the 2nd Regiment Norfolk Militia. Volunteered on 27 June 1812, the day of the war’s outbreak, appointed Lieut., in Left Flank Company. Commanded a detachment of Norfolk men at Detroit. Became Captain and Adjutant of the 2nd Regiment Norfolk Militia at Detroit some time later. Was afterwards captured by Americans on Niagara River, sentenced to be executed, but was liberated in May, 1814. Immediately appointed Adjutant of the 4th Regiments Norfolk Militia and was at Lundy’s Lane. Then placed in command of the 103rd Regulars at Dover and Ryerse.

Reuben Green was born in February, 1783, in Sussex County, New Jersey. In the summer of 1786, he made the long and arduous journey with his brother Henry and his United Empire Loyalist parents Charles and Rebecca (Scritchfield) Green from New Jersey to Canada. As they passed through the Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania, three and a half year old Reuben, seated in the saddle basket (pannier) of their horse, had a terrifying view of the deep gorge below; this memory of the journey haunted him for the rest of his 90 year life. They crossed at Lewiston to Queenston on 18 September 1786 and settled in Mount Dorchester, (later known as Stamford, and finally as Niagara Falls). Eight days after their arrival his pregnant mother gave birth in the Bender’s barn to his sister Rebecca; the first white child born in the district.

Jacob Hoffman Jr. (Huffman) was born in Bertie Twp. in 1790, the first son of Jacob Hoffman (Huffman) UE (Private in Col. Edward Jessop’s Corp.) and Anna Ransier, DUE (daughter of Andres Ransier, Private Butler’s Rangers and his wife Agnes). He grew up on his father’s farm on the north side of Bertie Road, straddling Ridge Road North, known as Lots 3, Conc 9, 10 and 11th of Bertie. Jacob applied for Lord Dorchester’s Bounty when he attained the age of 21 years, in 1811, however the Order-In-Council was not issued until 1833.

3rd Regiment Lincoln Militia
Born in New York state William Robinson had settled with his family in the Front of Lansdowne Township, Leeds County before 1812. He was balloted for service in the Flank Company, 1st Regiment Leeds Militia commanded by Lieutenant Jonathan Fulford in July of 1812 and was on duty at Brockville when the town was raided by an American force led by Captain Benjamin Forsyth in February 1813.
Born in Vermont in 1782 Cleveland Stafford brought his wife Sally and infant first son, Solomon to Upper Canada about 1805 eventually settling in Lansdowne Township, Leeds County.

Born in Vermont about 1776 William Sturdivant came to Upper Canada in 1790 where he married Catherine Gordon, daughter of Robert Gordon, a Loyalist who had settled in Charlottenburg.

Joel Stone was born in 1749 in Connecticut where he married and carried on a mercantile business until the beginning of the American Revolution when his support of the loyalist cause resulted in the confiscation of all his property.
Allen Sweet was born in 1790 in Oswego, New York and came to Upper Canada about 1806 where his family settled in Leeds County. At the age of 22 he was a corporal in the Flank Company 2nd Regiment Leeds Militia commanded by Captain John Struthers and was called to duty at Gananoque in July 1812 where he served until the spring of 1813.
Archelaus Kenny Farnam, born in 1779 in Dublin, New Hampshire, came to Upper Canada about 1797 with his parents and siblings eventually settling in Bastard Township, Leeds County.
