Archelaus Kenny Farnam, born in 1779 in Dublin, New Hampshire, came to Upper Canada about 1797 with his parents and siblings eventually settling in Bastard Township, Leeds County.
A private the Flank Company, 2nd Regiment Leeds Militia, commanded by Captain John Struthers, Farnam was called to duty at Gananoque in July 1812 and was wounded in the attack on the settlement by an American force led by Captain Benjamin Forsythe on September 21 that year.
In 1813 Archelaus Farnam married Naomi Sly with whom he had a family of seven children. He d 24 January 1833 in his 55th year.
