John Hainer

John Hainer’s  family were UEL and arrived from the States shortly  before he was born in 1796.  He was married  to Nancy Bowman and they farmed Lot 13 Conc 12 Burford Township.

Hainer is listed in Soldiers of the King by William  Gray on page 135.  At the time he was a Private and served with the 2nd Flank Company 1st Regiment Lincoln Militia under Captain John McEwen.

The other document where he can be found is Officers of the British Forces in Canada during the War of  1812-1815 by L. Homfray Irving.  He is listed as Jr. Lieutenant  under Captain George Turney of the Niagara District  Battalion  Company.
