Born in Vermont in 1792, Levi Hotchkiss Jr. came to Upper Canada as a young boy with his parents who settled in Leeds County near the present day village of Seeleys Bay.

Cornelius Bertran was born c1785, likely in Sussex County, New Jersey, USA, to David Bertran. David served in the 2nd Battalion of the New Jersey Volunteers during the American Revolution. He and his family came to Upper Canada in 1794 when he was given a land grant in Clinton Township as a United Empire Loyalist.

John Sly

John Sly (1763-1868) John Sly was b 23 June 1763 in Dutchess County, New York but grew up in Vermont where his family eventually settled. According to his grand-daughter, Mariah Millenbah, John Sly lived at the foot of the Green Mountains in Vermont and was away from home five years fighting during the Revolutionary War; as a teenager it is unclear what role he fulfilled during this conflict.

Ebenezer Willson was born on or about 3 May 1796 in New Jersey, USA to John and Rachel (Drake) Willson. They moved their family to Canada from the United States along with 17 other families. They settled in the Jersey Settlement (now Jerseyville) in Ancaster Township in 1804.
