Burwell served under Captain Leslie Patterson July, August 1812  received land  Claim Certificate Unit, Flank Company 1st Regiment Middlesex Militia, Volume 18. File pages 1655  -1656.

Probably son of Adam Burwell (1748 -1828).  Burwell found on 1851 and 1861 census in Brantford.  Burwell was born in Bertie Township on 17 Feb 1794,  d 20 Apr 1865 in Burford Township, Brant. Buried in Burford Pioneer Cemetery, m1 Elizabeth Ann Whitehead; m2 Mary Adelia Northrop.  (Research by Elgin County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society).
