Asahel Kyes was born in 1764 in the United States. He came with his wife Sarah Mosier and family to Upper Canada about 1796 settling in the front of Lansdowne Township.
As a member of the Flank Company, 1st Regiment Leeds Militia he was called to duty at Prescott in July of 1812. While there he fell ill and returned to his home where he d 14 July 1813 leaving a widow and seven children.
