John Cook
1st Flank Company
5th Regiment Lincoln Militia

John Cook was born in the United States in 1791 and I would assume came to Canada West with his parents.  He and his family were UEL and Cook was awarded a Land Grant after the war.

Cook was a Private under Captain Leslie Patterson in 1812, 1813 and 1814, Captain Gillman Willson in 1814. Under Captain Leslie Patterson 1814 he served in the Flank Company 1st Regiment Middlesex Militia, Vol 19 File 21 Pages 820-821. Cook married and lived the rest of his life in the Mount Pleasant area as a farmer.  (Source: Military History From the Elgin County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society).
