Peter James Plato3rd Regiment Lincoln Militia

Peter James Plato, UE was born in 1756 in Albany, New York Province, Thirteen Colonies, the son of Christian Plato, UE and his wife, Dorotea May.  During the American Revolution Peter James fought with Butler’s Rangers in the Ohio Valley and for this service, received 300 acres of land in the Conc 13 of  Bertie Twp.

John Warren3rd Regiment Lincoln Militia

John Warren Jr. was the son of John Warren was born in 1777.   He was the second son of John Warren, Sr. and his wife Susan.  John Sr. was a career soldier with the 8th (The King’s) Regiment of Foot.  In 1779 Warren Sr. left the army and was appoint commissary at Fort Erie.  He became a prominent merchant and held many government posts.

William Scarlett3rd Regiment Lincoln Militia

Research compiled by the Heritage Arts Legacy of Fort Erie

William Scarlett was born c. 1760 in Drumgoon, Cavan County, Ireland.  He is first found in 1787 as a Private in the 58th Regiment of  Foot in the  Canada-British Regimental Registers of Service, 1756-1800.  In these registers, it notes he was 25 years of age with a pale complexion, long face, hazel eyes, brown hair, being born in Drumgoon and his occupation was listed as a Weaver.

John Baxter3rd Regiment Lincoln Militia

Captain John Baxter   1776 – 1837

The Baxter family were among the band of refugees who landed in Miller’s Bay in November of 1783.

There is some debate about the parentage of John Baxter.  Some records show him as the son of Jacob Baxter and Rebeccca Beam while others refer to him as the son of David Baxter.

John C Garden joined the 5th Company Royal Newfoundland Regiment commanded by Captain John T. Whelan, 16 Dec 1807,  his brother James joined the next day both as Junior Officers. Their father was William Henry Garden (1749-1812) UEL.

Alexander Thom
41st Regiment of Foot

Biography for Alexander Thom

41st regiment of Foot (1775-1845)

Alexander Thom, born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on October 26, 1775, served in the War of 1812 with the 41st Regiment of Foot, of the British regular army.  Following the war, he remained in Upper Canada, in the newly-created Perth Military Settlement, to which he made a substantial contribution.  To quote one biographer:

“Alexander Thom was a force in assuring the survival and growth of the town (of Perth).”

Christopher Myers

Colonel Christopher Myers CB

Christopher John Myers was born c 1774 in County Dublin, Ireland.  In August 1799, as a captain in the 40th Regiment of Foot, Myers was wounded at the Battle of Bergen in what is now Holland.  Isaac Brock, then a Lieutenant-Colonel commanding the 49th Regiment of Foot, participated in the same battle.

George Fowler
Quartermaster General’s Department

George Fowler was probably born in England in about 1766.  In 1798, he was a lieutenant in the York Regiment of Fencible Infantry in Ireland.  On 7 August 1806, Lieutenant Fowler was transferred to the 41st Regiment of Foot, which was in Canada.
