Jonathan Sexton
2nd Regiment Leeds Militia

Jonathan Sexton, born about 1788 in Dorset,  Bennington Co., Vermont came to Upper Canada as a child with his parents William Sexton and the former Dorothy Curtis.

He was called to service in the Flank Company2nd Regiment Leeds Militia commanded by Captain John Struthers in July 1812 and was on duty at Gananoque until the following year being present during the American attack on the settlement on September 21, 1812.

In civilian life he was one of the founding members of the Leeds Agricultural Society in 1830. He was twice married, first to Patience Washburn who bore him twelve children and secondly to Chloe Rose who bore him six children.
